Telematic performance for 4 feedback turntables from Mexico City, Montreal, Oslo and Hong Kong
Spatialized across a 24-speaker sound system
comissioned by Hong Kong New Music Ensemble
Hyperspace is an installative telematic performance that speculates a possibility for simultaneous acoustics. Four performers, from Oslo, Montreal, Mexico City and Hong Kong, with each of them performs a feedback turntable developed by Viola Yip. Through the medium of acoustic feedback, each instrument highlights the acoustics of each performing space, which was simultaneously transmitted, juxtaposed and spatialized across the 20-speaker system as a performative hyperspace in the Multimedia Theater of the School of Creative Media at the City University of Hong Kong.
