Transsonic (2018- )
for real-time spatialized guitar and lights

Transsonic Music is a duo project in collaboration with guitarist Nicola Hein. We were both interested in developing the idea of “light as musical materials” and question the ontology of music in the light of digital technological development in our time and the translations of music across disciplines in arts. We create site-specific light installations for each performance: Nicola takes my light information as music and interacts on his guitar; while I listen to his guitar sounds and play on my light controllers that I built for my musical expressions. It is an ongoing project where we are exploring the rich nexus between lights and sounds where they are seen as equally important and yet dialectical musical counterpoints that enrich our musical experience.
